Video conferencing with jail inmates to be possible
Panaji May 17: The collector for North Goa, Mr Nikhil Kumar said that he is presently studying the files regarding the directives of the High Court about improvement of the prison conditions, and would try to implement them at the earliest.
The 12 judicial directives include isolation of undertrials from the hardened criminals, video conferencing with jail inmates, etc.
The North Goa collector also informed that a piece of land has already been acquired for construction of a new state prison at Curca, and the foundation stone has been laid. “However, I have very limited role to play as far as the construction work is concerned,” he observed.
On the other hand the public works department (PWD) is in the process of preparing the design for the jail and sources in the PWD said that the design will be ready shortly.
